Misc. Musings

Hath, Tara and Big Apple Jovi Girl have covered the We Are One event thoroughly and beautifully. If you want to read about it, see the video clips or get the MP3s, links to their sites are on the right side of mine.

My thoughts on it. Jon looked as fantastic as ever. His voice made me proud to be a Bon Jovi fan, the man has a great set of pipes on him. I was amazed by Pete Seger being on that stage, talk about an icon of folk music. Wow. Stevie Wonder made me smile, every time I see him I remember when I saw him live as a special guest to the Rolling Stones in Detroit, MI in 1972. Bruce Springstein was good, very good and I’m no fan of his for the most part. Garth Brooks, awesome to see him on stage. How I wish that Jon and Garth would do something together, maybe Jon could have come out and done Shout with Garth? What I’d really love is to see the two of them perform together somewhere or maybe on a record. Sigh. Two of my very favorite front men.

What must it have been like backstage? Can you imagine being a fly on the wall with that many of the finest musicians and actors of our time in one place? The conversations that must have occurred. Incredible. All of them there for the same thing and I just hope they all stowed their egos at the door because that could have spelled disaster. Yet, even then to have seen the interaction, the diversity of the personalities and their talents and how they all worked together to make that event what it was. We may all be one as Americans, but we are all very different as individual people. What an event and how proud it makes me to be an American.

On a far different subject. Have you ever had one of those nights when you just wanted treat yourself to an evening of pure decadence? I had a bottle of Bath and Body Works Wickedly Hot Chocolate 3 in 1 shampoo, body wash, and bubble bath and poured some in the tub. Made myself a little snack buffet of cheeses, crackers and meats, grabbed a smutty novel and crawled in. Used the Pier One Imports dark chocolate glycerin soap that I bought a while back and ended it all with Avon’s chocolate orchid body butter. After my decadently wonderful bath, I made a cup of hot chocolate, added Kahlua to it and I think that Saturday night was as close to heaven as this girl could get.

Now, if that potential job opportunity that I was presented with today works out, I might be back on the employment roll soon. Fingers crossed.
